Disconnected inferences are back.

Ever-mundane urban life lulls us into a false sense of security, where we never expect much to ever happen. So complete is the illusion in its surreptitiousness, that one fine day we're all just walking around with blind spots the size of football stadiums. And then we blame the butterfly for the hurricane.

At times when I think clarity is peaking, I really believe urbanity is a bane in every possible way. Sadly, the occurence of clarity peaking is less than that of the proverbial blue moon.

And I'm really starting to look forward to these pithy posts of yours :)

I wonder if it's less a case of developing a blind-spot and more a case of sensitization. Continually exposed to that which we first tell ourselves deserves to be noticed, we become so deeply attuned to stifling every alarm signal, that only an extreme element of surprise can rouse us from our collective reverie.

@JD: The more I think about it, the less excited I feel about any kind of social order, formal education, organized religion, and governance. They begin to feel like leashes.

I'm just too much of a savage at heart, I guess. Also, flattered. Again.

@TUIB: Desensitization, yes. That's exactly what I meant.

if fluttering of butterfly wings can cause hurricane, then fluttering of wings, from hummingbird to albatross, can cause superhurricanes or tornadoes. Why it isnt so??

I think butterfly effect is something that is hyped too much... I think Indian media is behind this too! :P
