Pennies and strings
and a button or two,
maybe a picture
perhaps of you.
Little lost treasures
I was carrying
in a pocket,
all these years.
Some gathered
to capture that,
which could not be
held in constancy.
A few things
to remind us,
that the past
can breathe life
into the present.
All of which
will be thrown out
with the trash tomorrow.
Except the letter.
.......................................................
That, would have to be burned.

Painful...
Hmm, This is Phase I. Phase II is easier, much.
:) says a lot
yay first time i understood every single word typed..anyways as long as ur not stupid to have a half burnt letter and a partially burnt finger..or worse some ashes in a small ceramic box..i have seen some people do stuff like that..free
and this is named after the opeth song??coz the poem and the song mood are so in tune..free
@ mgeek: Closure is quite the opposite. The end of pain.
@ Sugar Magnolia: I'm sure it is. :)
@ Niti: Fiction. Anticipatory perhaps, but fiction nevertheless.
Yet, it does.
@ soin: No. I have a lot of experience in burning and breaking things. I'm sure I can manage a tiny piece of paper. I haven't heard the song, so no. I don't like Opeth much.
I feel tempted to say that you have a thing for the theatrical. (There, I said it!)I hope you don't take it the wrong way.
Of course I do!
In fact, I think that most things in life are underplayed. Hence the ennui that breeds in such profusion. I seek greater effect from every cause.
And it's that exact flair for dramatical sweeps and theatrical pennings that makes you so addictive.
After Closure, comes a certain overrated serenity. I look forward to a post on that. :)
Sniff. Bawl! I need a shoulder, somebody!
@ Anty: Addictive. I like!
I usually wish for apocalypse though.
Not like there's a god up there listening. Bleh.
@ Kirra Serra: Me too! And a shotgun to boot, perhaps.
This was good. Very good.
ah listen.. this song is as non-opethish as it can get..guess you will like it..free
Is that what happens to all the stuff? I have wondered for years where it ended up.
Sometimes the past breathes life into the present.
That was profound and an observation not many could make.
And I completely agree that some things in life are underplayed.
With your permission, I'd like to send this to someone. With due credit, of course :)
@Anushka : True. Practice makes one sappier.
In more of a steely way. Which is good.
@soin : In that case, I'll check it out. Thanks for the recommendation.
@noThiNG but "fiCUs" : Good to see that you haven't abandoned the blogosphere entirely.
@Misanthropist : It could. Sadly, very few give it the chance it deserves. :)
@Absolutely Normal Chaos: You have my permission.
Also, I hope your intent meets effect.
Glad you dropped by.
This feels like a darker version of Mera Kucch Saamaan..have you heard that song?
very likable...found it quite interesting..cheers!
@ Tangled up in blue: Yes I have. Though I wonder if there were any objecticidal tendencies involved. :)
@ Diwakar Sinha: Thanks.
Well, unless you consider burying stuff objecticidal, no. ;)
